Error description
It is difficult to find connections in the WebSphere Application Server trace or network trace based upon plugin internal tracing because plugin does not identify the source port used to communicate with WebSphere Application Server.
Local fix
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: IBM WebSphere Application Server web server * * plugin users * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Difficulies matching connections * * from network trace to plugin log. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** The plugin trace shows when plugin starts a new connection to Application Server with a line stating : ws_common: websphereGetStream: Created a new stream; queue was empty, socket = <some number> This is not helpful because the socket number is an OS internal index. With the volume of connections that plugin opens to the application server, you can not depend on the timestamp either so you really need to know what the local port is to be able to find the connection in a network trace.
Problem conclusion
Plugin's trace statement has been modified to show the local port number : ws_common: websphereGetStream: Created a new stream; queue was empty, socket = <some number> Local Port=<local port number> The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix packs 7.0.0.29, 8.0.0.6 and 8.5.0.2.
