PM74881: ROLLOUT UPDATE STATUS IS NOT SHOWN IN REAL TIME ON ADMINSTRATIVE CONSOLE

APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • During the application rollout update, the update status is not
    shown in a timely manner on the administrative console.
    This means the update status is shown step by step on V7.0 but
    the status is shown at once on V8.0 and V8.5.
    
    Here is the steps how to recreate the issue:
    
    #1
    Create cluster
    
    #2
    Update application
    1. Applications > WebSphere enterprise applications check the
    application name and click "Update"
    2. select one option(the result does not depend on this option)
    3. Select "Fast Path" and click "Next"
    4. stay as default and click "Next"
    5. map to cluster and "Next"
    6. click "Finish"
    
    The log are shown on the console and the message "Application
    DefaultApplication.ear installed successfully." is shown.
    
    7. click "Rollout Update"

Problem summary

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The status messages are not displayed   *
    *                      in real time.  They all display when    *
    *                      the rollout is complete.                *

    The rollout function wasn't using the correct writer function
    to display in real time.
    

Problem conclusion

  • Changed the code so that the rollout uses the correct writer
    functions to display notfications as they are recieved.
    
    The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
    fix packs 8.0.0.6, and 8.5.0.2.  Please refer to the
    Recommended Updates page for delivery information:
