Error description
The WebSphere for z/OS Runtime does not honor the 10 second default connection timeout setting defined by com.ibm.CORBA.ConnectTimeout.
Local fix
supply an appropriate value for com.ibm.CORBA.ConnectTimeout. Use the adminconsole to specify the desired value. To set ORB custom property, click Servers > Server Types > Application servers > server_name > Container services > ORB service > Custom properties. Click New to add a new property to the list. Fill in the name com.ibm.CORBA.ConnectTimeout. Fill in the timeout value. Click Apply to save your change. When you finish the changes, click OK and then click Save to save your changes.

Problem conclusion
Code was updated so that for synchronous connect, the connection timeout is set in AIOCB structure before calling connect. In addition, the default connection timeout value is updated to 10 seconds as documented in the infocenter. APAR PM75048 is currently targeted for inclusion in Fix Packs 8.0.0.6 and 8.5.0.2 of WebSphere Application Server.
