APAR status
Closed as program error.
Error description
In certain scenarios where the SDO graph contains in-memory built elements the xsi:nil attribute is ignored.
Local fix
A workaround is to use for all involved modules and libraries the "eager" parsing mode, because the error only occurs "lazy mode".
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application * * Server * * V8.0 and V8.5. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The xsi:nil attribute is ignored in * * certain SDO usage scenarios, which * * results in unexpected behaviour. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** In scenarios where the Service Data Objects (SDO) graph is built in memory there is a possibility that xsi:nil attributes are ignored. This can cause unexpected behaviour such as validation errors and other exceptions, for example if the datatype doesn't allow empty content.
Problem conclusion
The xsi:nil attribute is now always properly processed for all SDO scenarios. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix packs 8.0.0.6 and 8.5.0.2.
