Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of the iSeries Migration tools on * * IBM WebSphere Application Server * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Certain combiniations of Application * * Server, iSeries and Java releases * * cause the JAVA_HOME not to be * * identified correctly. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** WebSphere Application Server on iSeries does not ship its own copy of the JDK. Those systems using WebSphere Application Server V8.5 on iSeries VRM 610 and those system not having a JDK 1.6 location are experiencing JAVA_HOME location lookup problems.
Problem conclusion
Modify the Java Home lookup function to not be hardcoded to certain locations. Beginning with V8.0 the SDK properties can be used to locate the JAVA_HOME used by the WebSphere Application Server install. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix pack 8.0.0.7 and release 8.5.5.0.
