Error description

  • When installing an application in wsadmin and specifying target
    mappings, the targets will not be processed correctly if the
    target string contains a "-" or "+" followed by any of the
    characters in the string "WebSphere:", however the strings
    "+WebSphere:" and "-WebSphere:" are fine in the target string.

    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    Using the wsadmin scripting client to install, edit, or update
    the application's target mappings does not always result in
    the application being mapped to the new targets if the target
    mapping string started with a leading "+" or "-". This is
    because a cell/node/server/cluster name in the target mapping
    string contained a dash ("-") followed by any of the
    characters in the string "WebSphere:".
    Example failing target string:
    +WebSphere:cell=cell1,node=node01,server=server-
    e1+WebSphere:cel
    l=cell2,node=node01,server=server1
    Here server=server-e1 causes the target mapping to map
    incorrectly.

Problem conclusion

  • The logic to parse the server mapping string has been
    corrected.

    The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
    fixpacks 7.0.0.29, 8.0.0.6 and the fix pack following 8.5.0.2.
