Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application *
    * Server who deploy OSGi/EBA applications in *
    *                  a network deployment environment            *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Long pauses may be observed before *
    * application server startup completes *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    During application server startup, after an EBA application is
    started, all components of the application are registered
    within the on demand configuration (ODC) system. For a large
    or complex OSGi application, this can take considerable time
    as each bundle is registered. If ODC is not in use in the
    system, this is unnecessary as the registered information will
    not be used.

Problem conclusion

  • For systems where ODC is not in use, the registering of
    EBA/OSGi applications with the ODC system can be disabled by
    setting the Java system property:

    -Dcom.ibm.ws.eba.odc.disabled=true

    The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
