PM83250: UPDATE FROM 5.0.5.0 TO 5.0.5.1 COMPLETES BUT IS NOT CORRECT

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• An Installation Manager update of the Worklight server from
  5.0.5.0 to 5.0.5.1 completes successfully according to IM, but
  not all of the files may have been properly updated and,
  depending upon the operating system, the binaries may not be
  executable.
  

Local fix

• If you chose to install the embedded WebSphere Application
  Server
      Liberty Profile as part of Worklight Server:
      - Restore the file
  WORKLIGHT_INSTALL_DIR/server/wlp/usr/servers/worklightServer/ser
  ver.xml
        from an earlier backup.
      - On Unix, execute the command "chmod a+x
  WORKLIGHT_INSTALL_DIR/server/wlp/bin/server".
  
  If you chose a different application server:
      - Install a worklight.war created according to the
  documentation

        in the application server.
      - Install the application

      - Remove the entire WORKLIGHT_INSTALL_DIR/server directory.

  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Upon updating, if the user has chosen   *
  *                      to use the embedded WebSphere           *
  *                      Application Server Liberty Profile they *
  *                      will notice that the server.xml file is *
  *                      incorrect -- any previous changes as    *
  *                      well as the database configuration will *
  *                      have been overwritten.  Also, if        *
  *                      running on a *nix platform, the server  *
  *                      binaries will not be executable.        *
  *                      If the user has chosen to use another   *
  *                      application server, the worklight.war   *
  *                      and applicationcenter.war file will not *
  *                      have been copied over.                  *

  * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *

  The post-install script is not being executed properly upon
  update.  If the user has the IM installation log available for
  the update session, you will not be able to find the line
  containing " Worklight server post-install script" for the
  install (although it may still be present for an uninstall.)
  

Problem conclusion

• The code has been changed so that the post-install script is
  properly run after an update is installed.
  
  The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
  fixpack 5.0.6.0.
