Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application * * Server V8.0 and V8.5 on z/OS * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: When an HTTP response fails, a double * * delete of the ORBR object will happen * * by both the Java and native code. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** On WebSphere Application Server for z/OS, when an HTTP response fails, the return code sent back to the native code triggers a delete of the ORBR object. However, on the Java end, the ORBR pointer is not reset to 0. This causes Java code to also attempt a delete of the ORBR object which will often (but not always) produce an SVCDUMP with minor code C9C212F7. The TCB that causes this dump with have the following traceback: bbormcdx(RMCDP_Class::RMCDP_PC_FunctionCodes,...) RMCDP_Class::takeSVC_Dump(unsigned int) ORBEyeCatcher::eyeCatcherNotVaild(char*,char*,unsigned int) ORB_Request::~ORB_Request() BBO_BOA::return_ORB_request(ORB_Request*) ACR_ExecutionThread::ProcessXMemOutboundResponse(acrwObj*) ACR_ExecutionThread::RemoveAndProcessWork(ThreadCleanUp*) ACR_ExecutionRoutine
Problem conclusion
Code was added to ensure that the ORBR pointer is reset to 0 when an HTTP response fails. This prevents Java from attempting a delete of the ORBR object. APAR PM85637 is currently targeted for inclusion in Fix Pack 8.0.0.7 of WebSphere Application Server V8.0 and Fix Pack 8.5.5.1 of WebSphere Application Server V8.5.
