PM86339: SERVER CONFIG REPORTS A NESTED ELEMENT IS REMOVED WHEN PRESENT

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Scenario. In the server config if we have
  
  <httpEndpoint ...>
  <accessLogging enabled="true" />
  </httpEndpoint>
  
  and change it to
  
  <httpEndpoint ...>
  <accessLogging />
  </httpEndpoint>
  
  Configuration states that the nested delta, accessLogging is
  removed in the updated config.
  
  1. The defaults are not being injected before we compare the
  old and the new configuration.
  
  2. An empty element is not treated as the element with no
  attributes but as no element.

  If a nested element is updated to remove all of its
  attributes, it will appear as if it has been removed.
  

Problem conclusion

• Configuration update processing now correctly takes into
  account default values for nested configuration elements so
  that the element will not be lost.
  
  The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
  fix pack 8.5.5. Please refer to the Recommended Updates page
