Error description

  • Occasionally applications fail to start. Typical errors seen
    are:
    
    java.lang.NullPointerException from
    com.ibm.ws.app.manager.war.internal.WARApplicationHandler.
    
    java.lang.NullPointerException from
    com.ibm.ws.app.manager.ear.internal.EARApplicationInfoImpl.creat
    eWebModuleClassLoader
    
    CWWKZ0005E: The application MyEBA cannot start because
    the server is not configured to handle applications of type eba.

    The app manager was insufficiently robust with respect to
    timing issues and occasionally applications fail to start.
    Typical errors seen are:
    java.lang.NullPointerException from
    com.ibm.ws.app.manager.war.internal.WARApplicationHandler.
    java.lang.NullPointerException from
    com.ibm.ws.app.manager.ear.internal.EARApplicationInfoImpl.creat
    eWebModuleClassLoader
    CWWKZ0005E: The application MyEBA cannot start because
    the server is not configured to handle applications of type
    eba.
    

Problem conclusion

  • Restructured the app manager code to be more resilient in the
    cases where it was unreliable.
    
    The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
    fix pack 8.5.5.0. Please refer to the Recommended Updates page
