Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application *
    *                  Server                                      *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Multiple Health policies triggered in *
    * the same control cycle can lead to *
    * unpredictable ordering of actions *
    *                      associated with them.                   *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    When two or more Health policies are violated in the same
    control cycle for the same set of servers the merging of
    actions associated with them can appear inconsistent.

Problem conclusion

  • To ensure merging inconsistencies do not occur, only one set
    of actions associated with first Health policy violation will
    be considered for running. This fix introduces a cell level
    custom property, HMM.preferSinglePolicyActions - which when
    set to true - will ignore actions associated with all but one
    Health policy.

    The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
    fix pack 8.5.5. Please refer to the Recommended Updates
