Error description

  • When a client inactivity timeout occurs at a subordinate and
    the remote transation is coordinated by the UOWManager, no
    exception is thrown. The application client is unaware the
    rollback has occurred.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: When a client inactivity timeout        *
    *                      occurs at a subordinate and the         *
    *                      remote transation is coordinated        *
    *                      by the UOWManager, no exception is      *
    *                      thrown. As such, any client is          *
    *                      unaware that the rollback has           *
    *                      occurred.                               *

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    A client inactivity timeout triggered at a remote transaction
    subordinate will result in the transaction being marked for
    rollback only at the coordinating server.  If the transaction
    is being coordinated by UOWManager, the transaction is
    rolledback as required but there is no external indication
    given that the rollback has occurred.
    

Problem conclusion

  • Ensure that transactions coordinated by UOWManager and subject
    to rollback due to a client inactivity timeout throw an
    appropriate exception to the client application.
    
    The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
    fix pack 7.0.0.31, 8.0.0.7 and 8.5.5.1.  Please refer to the
