Error description

  • When a notification is received for a hybrid iOS application
    which uses push notifications, the user can select the
    notification in the iOS Notification Center which results in the
    application being opened so that the notification can be read.
    However, once the notification is read in the application it is
    not removed from the Notification Center.

Local fix

  • Users of the application can manually remove the notification
    from the Notification Center.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:                                         *
    * If the user does not clean the notifications manually, they *
    * will start to accumulate on the the notification bar. *
    *                                                              *
    * The issue can be reproduced as follows: *
    * 1. Push Notifications application is launched on device *
    * 2. User logs-in                                              *
    * 3. User taps on Subscribe, and is indeed subscribed *
    * 4. Application is exited                                     *
    * 5. A notification is sent to the device *
    * 6. User taps on the notification in the Notification Center *
    * 7. Application is opened and the notification is displayed *
    * (log-in might be required)                                   *
    *                                                              *
    * Expected behavior:                                           *
    * The read notification will be removed from the Notification *
    * Center                                                       *
    *                                                              *
    * Actual behavior:                                             *
    * The notification remains in the Notification Center. *
    * Meaning, each login to the application will display past *
    * notifications. They are never marked as "read". *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
