Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application * * Server V8.5 with Java Enterprise Edition * * applications that use dependency * * injection. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Dependency injection defined on a * * super class may result in a * * CWNEN0040W warning when the * * subclasses are accessed. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** When dependency injection is defined on a field or method of a super class, the application server incorrectly views this as an attempt to inject two different values into the same field or method and logs the warning CWNEN0040W: The xxxx field or method was configured to be injected multiple times. Despite the warning, injection is performed properly.
Problem conclusion
The application server will be updated to correctly handle dependency injection that is inherited. The warning will no longer be logged for this scenario. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix pack 8.5.5.1.
