Local fix
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application * * Server V8.5 * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The GenPluginCfg utility may throw a * * java.lang.IncompatibleClassChangeError * * when reading applications. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** WebSphere Application Server v8.5 includes version 3.2 and version 4.0 of the ASM bytecode scanning library. The GenPluginCfg utility does not use OSGi internally and is unable to enforce bundle versioning. Because of incompatibilities between the two libraries, GenPluginCfg may throw an IncompatibleClassChangeError when processing Java Enterprise Edition 5 or 6 applications: java.lang.IncompatibleClassChangeError: org.objectweb.asm.ClassVisitor at java.lang.ClassLoader.defineClassImpl(Native Method) at java.lang.ClassLoader.defineClass(ClassLoader.java:262)
Problem conclusion
The scripts for GenPluginCfg utility were updated to ensure the correct ASM binary is first on the classpath. The following files were updated: For Microsoft Windows operating systems: * INSTALL_ROOT/bin/GenPluginCfg.bat For all other operating systems: * INSTALL_ROOT/bin/GenPluginCfg.sh The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix pack 8.5.5.1.
