Error description
A NullPointerException may occur intermittently when looking up an object in JNDI. The stack of the exception resembles: java.lang.NullPointerException at org.apache.aries.jndi.ContextHelper.getInitialContextUsingBuilde r(ContextHelper.java:229) at org.apache.aries.jndi.ContextHelper.getContextProvider(ContextHe lper.java:161) at org.apache.aries.jndi.ContextHelper.getInitialContext(ContextHel per.java:139) at org.apache.aries.jndi.OSGiInitialContextFactoryBuilder.getInitia lContext(OSGiInitialContextFactoryBuilder.java:49) ... This exception may occur more frequently under load.

Problem conclusion
This APAR removes the timing window by using the volatile keyword for the null object. It also adds additional debug information. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix pack 8.5.5.1.
