PM92239: MINIMIZE THE NUMBER OF OSGI SERVICES RUNNING FOR VMM.

APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Virtual member manager (VMM) has a number of services that run
when VMM is configured. The greater the services and
dependencies, the greater the chances of services not starting
up correctly and causing run time failures. Minimizing the
number of OSGi services running for VMM will minimize the
    chances of these failures.

    * running when Federated repositories *

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
When federated repositories are configured, a number of OSGi
services are started as part of Virtual Member Manager. If any
services do not start up correctly, it could lead to runtime
    service dependency errors.

Problem conclusion

  • Code was modified to minimize the number of OSGi services that
are started when federated repositories are configured. This
reduces the chances of runtime service dependency errors.
