Error description

  • When WebSphere Application Server is uninstalled using the IBM
    Installation Manager, product 5733W85 option 1, 2 or 3 is
    removed from the system product registry even though another
    installation of that edition (Express, Base or Network
    Deployment) still exists.

    The problem occurs when a Liberty profile installation exists
    under the same product option as the full profile (traditional
    Application Server profile) that is uninstalled. The
    IBM Installation Manager uninstall logic removes the product
    option when no additional full profile installations exist
    for that option but fails to also ensure no Liberty profile
    installations exist for the product option before removing it.
    

Problem conclusion

  • The IBM Installation Manager uninstall logic removes the
    product option when no additional full profile (traditional
    Application Server profile) installations exist for the
    product option and was corrected to also ensure no Liberty
    profile installations exist for the product option before
    removing it.
    
    The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
    fix pack 8.5.5.1.  Please refer to the Recommended Updates
