Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application * * Server * * V8.0 and V8.5 * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Newly installed products are not * * detected * * when installed after a configuration * * root * * is created * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** The post installer component was modified to properly detect new products even when installed after a configuration root is created.
Problem conclusion
Certain files which are created to let the post installer detect a new product has been installed are not symlinked to the corresponding config root on installation. The post installer now will symlink these new files before it tries to determine what has been installed. With this new change the new products will show up for existing configuration roots.
