Error description

  • When using the following IBMIM command with the -s parameter
the -s parameter is ignored. This causes the wrong set of code
to be used and thus creates the Microsoft Windows Service
using the datakey for service.name rather than the profile id
    by design.
    -
    IBMIM -nosplash -acceptLicense -s -input
    C:\download\ihs-install.xml -dL C:\WebSphere_AgentData
    -showProgress
    -
<profile id='IBM HTTP Server V8.0 for Tivoli Enterprise Portal
    Server'
    -
    <data key='user.ihs.http.server.service.name.key'
    value='IHSforTivoliEnterprisePortalServer'/>
    -
Above 2 lines are from the responsefile. It should use the
profile id to create the Windows Service.

Local fix

  • Either use the imcl command to install
    -
    imcl input C:\download\ihs-install.xml -nosplash -acceptLicense
    -dL C:\WebSphere_AgentData -showProgress
    -
or use the IBMIM command with the -silent parameter vs the
    -s parameter
    -
    IBMIM -nosplash -acceptLicense -silent -input
    C:\download\ihs-install.xml -dL C:\WebSphere_AgentData
    -showProgress

    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
The IBM HTTP Server Microsoft Windows Service name is set
incorrectly to the value of the given data key
    user.ihs.http.server.service.name.key instead of the profile
id in the response file when running the IBMIM command with
    the -s parameter.

Problem conclusion

  • The problem can be worked around by calling the IBMIM command
with the -silent parameter instead of giving the short form -s.
The Windows Service configuration has been fixed to handle the
    -s parameter.

The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
fix packs 8.0.0.8 and 8.5.5.2. Please refer to the
