Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application * * Server on a distrubuted operating system * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Partial post install config action * * failure on upgrading V8.5.0.x to * * V8.5.5 * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** The post install config action updateOdrServerXml.ant might fail on upgrading from WebSphere Application Server V8.5.0.x to WebSphere Application Server V8.5.5 when the following configurations are in place - 1. Two profiles, deployment manager and application server exist, and the appserver profile is the default profile. The post install config action will fail. 2. Two profiles, both are deployment managers; there will be no error, but the post install will be run against only the default profile. Because of the failure, the ODR server template would miss the "-agentlib:HeapDetect" setting that indicates the user installed V8.5.0.0. On a V8.5.0.1 and V8.5.0.2 system, the ODR server template is correct and the failure of this action will not affect anything.
Problem conclusion
The appearance of this problem was due to the change in initiation OSGI mechanism on running a post install config action. The correction was to reset the OSGI cache against each dmgr profile space prior to running this post install config action. Note that this case will only impact a very small number of users, if any. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix pack 8.5.5.1.
