When using WebSphere 8.5.0.1 with a blueprint application the following exception is encountered org.osgi.service.blueprint.container.ComponentDefinitionExceptio n when registering a blueprint component providing a service org.osgi.framework.ServiceFactory Service This component could be registered fine in WebSphere 8.0

**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application * * Server who use blueprint EBA applications * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: OSGi Services cannot obtained from a * * ServiceFactory in blueprint * * applications * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** A blueprint application that references a service class that implements org.osgi.framework.ServiceFactory should have the getService method called to obtain the actual service implementation. Instead, an error was returned indicating that the service class did not implement the required interface, indicating that the getService method had not been called.
Problem conclusion
The blueprint implementation has been updated to ensure the getService method is called before checking the required service interface has been implemented The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix pack 8.5.5.1.
