Error description

PropertyGroupException occurs when an application is executing
under a give ActivitySession whilst the same ActivitySession is
being timedout by the alarm thread. This can happen because the
timeout mechanism notes that the activity has timed out and
signals a reset to the activity - this 'cleans up' the property
group information stored in the LocalActivityContext. Later the
application's thread returns back to the Webcontainer and the
ASessWebInvocationCollaborator is invoked to suspend (or end
depending on the configuration) the Activity session but because
it cannot access the property group it gets an exception and
does not get as far as performing the suspend.  This leaves the
activity on the thread at which point any new activity based
work on that thread will result in an IllegalStateException.

After a request has finished processing in the Web Container
the ASessWebInvocationCollaborator class is invoked to suspend
(or end depending on the configuration) any ActivitySession on
the thread.  If the underlying activity has timed out a
PropertyGroupUnknown exception occurs and the ActivitySession
is left on the thread.  Further application invocations on
that thread may result in the activity service throwing
IllegalStateException and the thread may be unusable.

Problem conclusion

The ASessWebInvocationCollaborator class was modified to
handle the condition where the underlying activity has timed
out and remove it from the thread.

APAR PM95722 is currently targeted for inclusion in Fix Packs
7.0.0.31, 8.0.0.8 and 8.5.5.2 of WebSphere Application Server
