Error description

  • WebSphere Asynchronous Input/Output(AIO) native code
    signalling that it successfully cancelled an I/O request and
    then it also signals that the data was read successfully.
    
    The cancel should not have been signalled as successful.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: In rare cases the TCP channel AIO       *
    *                      cancel operation can cause loss of      *
    *                      pending read data                       *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    During a rare simultaneous read and cancel operations on the
    same connection, the TCP channel can signal it successfully
    completed the cancel but also signal the read was successful.
    This can cause loss of the pending read data.
    

Problem conclusion

  • The TCP channel Windows AIO code was modified to wait until a
    pending cancel operation is complete before signaling the
    success of the cancel
    
    The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
    fix packs 7.0.0.31, 8.0.0.8, 8.5.5.2.  Please refer to the
