Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application * * Server using WebSphere Portal * * applications and the web server plugin. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Running the plugin generator will * * result in a message in SystemOut.log * * from a FileNotFoundException for the * * file WEB-INF/portlet_1.1.dtd. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** The plugin generation code tries to load a portlet.xml file found in a web module but fails because the XML parsing code cannot find the schema file identified by the !DOCTYPE statement: <!DOCTYPE portlet-app-def PUBLIC "-//IBM//DTD Portlet Application 1.1//EN" "portlet_1.1.dtd"> This results in a message in the SystemOut.log, for example: [10/1/12 17:22:48:130 EDT] 00000043 translator E Failed to create document [ public ID [ null ] and system ID [ null ] ] [ java.io.FileNotFoundException: Failed to locate entry [ WEB-INF/portlet_1.1.dtd ] in archive [ /portal/web/wp_profile/wstemp/appdepl13a1cabedbd/AWebmodule. war8401101569655634210.tmp ] ] In most cases this message is extraneous and can be ignored.
Problem conclusion
The XML parsing code has been changed to remove the message, throw an exception, and allow the invoking code to decide if a message is needed. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix packs 7.0.0.31, 8.0.0.8, and 8.5.5.2.
