APAR status
Closed as program error.
Error description
Using a WebSphere MQ JMS connection factory to connect to WebSphere MQ queue manager using an SSL enabled channel, the connection fails with MQRC 2397. CWWMQ0087W and CIPHER_SUITES_DONT_MATCH_CWWMQ0088 messages are seen in the SystemOut.log just prior to the failing connection attempt. The connection factory does not set a cipher spec and the spec from the centrally managed configuration is expected to be passed to the queue manager. The queue manager logs indicate that no cipher spec was specified in the connection attempt: AMQ9639: Remote channel 'channel' did not specify a CipherSpec.

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application * * Server WebSphere MQ JMS * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: WMQ JMS Connection Factory cannot * * create connection using SSL enabled * * channel. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** The code that inteprets the configuration to setup the connection factory failed to cope with an empty string in the connection factory's cipher spec field. As a result, no cipher spec was used instead of the cipher spec from the centrally managed configuration.
Problem conclusion
This APAR correctly deals with the empty string set for the cipher spec and treats it as if it is not set. As a result the cipher spec from the centrally managed configuration will be used. The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix pack 8.0.0.8 and 8.5.5.2.
