APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • PM29185 covers the "loadClass" calls, but SLF4J code also
performs "getResources" which are not blocked, causing further
    error messages:
"SystemErr R SLF4J: Class path contains multiple SLF4J
    bindings."

Local fix

  • Error messages can be ignored, as they won't impede
    functionality at runtime.

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
The SLF4J logging framework contains a mechanism to check for
duplicate versions of itself, utilizing a getResources call
against one of its classes. WebSphere Application Server
packages SLF4J, providing a filtering mechanism to prevent
applications from accessing it via loadClass calls, but it
does not prevent the getResources call made in this check.
This can result in a warning message being emitted by SLF4J
even in instances in which the application correctly packages
    it.

Problem conclusion

  • Logic was added to filter the SLF4J getResources calls,
similar to the paradigm used for loadClass calls. Note that
if there are multiple non-WAS SLF4J versions packaged in
application-visible class loaders, the message will still be
    emitted.

The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in
fix packs 8.0.0.9 and 8.5.5.3. Please refer to the
