Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application *
    * Server V7.0 using dynacache and creating *
    * the same cache instance from multiple *
    *                  threads.                                    *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Multiple instances of the same cache *
    * can be created if a cache is created *
    * simultaneously by multiple threads. *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    Cache creation is not synchronized and it is possible for
    multiple instances of the same cache to exist.

Problem conclusion

  • Synchronization has been added to the cache creation process
    so only one thread is creating a cache.
