Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application * * Server V8.5 * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The OSGi framework's boot delegation * * model performs inefficiently. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** The OSGi framework packaged in WAS has a boot delegation model that bypasses OSGi loading for packages known to be located at the JVM level. The package list was maintained as a String array, which was not the most efficient structure possible.
Problem conclusion
The boot delegation mechanism was updated to utilize a Set, porting Eclipse bug 416034 to the framework included in WebSphere Application Server V8.5. APAR PM97795 is currently targeted for inclusion in Fix Pack 8.5.5.3 of WebSphere Application Server V8.5.
