Error description
An inconsistent resolution of the variables in f:ajax@listener MethodExpressions is observed while resolution of the same variables in a h:commandLink@action MethodExpression and a ValueExpression worked as expected. Generally, it occurs: 1. If the f:ajax tag occurs in a JavaServer Faces(JSF) page below a ui:include AND 2. If a name referred to in the listener MethodExpression is redefined by a ui:param passed to said ui:include.

Problem conclusion
The following fix was pulled into WebSphere Application Server from the Apache MyFaces Open Source Community to resolve this problem: 1) https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/MYFACES-3246 To enable the new bahavior the following context parameter needs to be set to "true" in the web.xml of the application: com.ibm.ws.jsf.updateFaceletContextKey(true/false - default) The fix for this APAR is currently targeted for inclusion in fix pack 8.5.5.2.
