A COBOL runtime routine did not properly identify the data
type when reference modification was used for a GROUP data
item. This caused the remote debugger to issue an error message
rather than displaying the value of the reference modified data
    item.

This problem only occurs when using reference modification for
a GROUP data item while running with the remote debugger. It
does not occur when running with MFI or using reference
modification for an elementary data item.

Problem conclusion

  • The COBOL runtime is modified to correctly identify and process
the data type for a reference modified GROUP data item.
