This page contains Runtime Environment and Utilities packages for use with applications developed using the IBM XL C/C++ Enterprise Edition for AIX, V9 compiler or its predecessors

This software contains two packages: Runtime Environment and Utilities.

Runtime Environment *
If you wish to run an application developed using the IBM XL C/C++ Enterprise Edition for AIX, V9 compiler, but do not have the corresponding version of compiler or runtime already installed, then you need to install the Runtime Environment package. The Runtime Environment package xlcpp.rte.9.0.0.aix.base.tar.Z contains the following files:

- vacpp.cmp.rte
- vacpp.memdbg.aix52.rte
- vacpp.memdbg.rte
- xlC.aix50
- xlC.msg.Ja_JP
- xlC.msg.en_US
- xlC.msg.ja_JP
- xlC.rte
- xlsmp.aix52.rte
- xlsmp.msg.EN_US.rte
- xlsmp.msg.JA_JP.rte
- xlsmp.msg.Ja_JP.rte
- xlsmp.msg.ZH_CN.rte
- xlsmp.msg.Zh_CN.rte
- xlsmp.msg.en_US.rte
- xlsmp.msg.ja_JP.rte
- xlsmp.msg.zh_CN.rte
- xlsmp.rte

* A regression has been identified in this release, as described in APAR IZ01894. IBM has released a PTF which is available here. You may skip ahead and install the PTF without installing this release first. Utilities Depending on your application, you may also need to install the Utilities package. The Utilities package contains files that may be required by some third-party applications. Only download and install the Utilities package if instructed by your application provider. (Note to application providers: Instruct the use of these addons packages only if your program was built with the corresponding compiler product.)

The Utilities package xlcpp.util.9.0.0.aix.base.tar.Z contains the following files:

- vac.aix52.lib
- vacpp.cmp.rte
- vacpp.cmp.tools

Prerequisites

Operating system:
- AIX 5.2 with bos.rte.libc.5.2.0.60 or higher
- AIX 5.3 with bos.rte.libc.5.3.0.3 or higher

Technical Support

The C++ Runtime Environment for AIX is not supported as a stand-alone software product.

Support for questions and problems relating to installation of the C++ Runtime Environment is available as part of AIX Software Maintenance (SWMA).

If you suspect a problem with the C++ Runtime Environment while using it with a third-party application, contact your application provider for support.

Full support (installation, defect support and general questions) for the C++ Runtime Environment is available with the software maintenance agreement for the XL C++ Compilers. A suitable test case is required for defect support; click here for details.
