Abstract
The SVC licensing configuration and calculation changed in SVC V4.3.0.0 onwards. After an upgrade to V4.3.x you should expect to see one or more of the following messages in the cluster error log:
3029: Virtualization feature capacity invalid
3030: Remote Copy feature capacity not set
3031: FlashCopy feature capacity not set
3032: Feature license limit exceeded

Before upgrading your SVC cluster to V4.3, ensure that you understand your base Virtualization, FlashCopy™ and Remote Copy license entitlement.
Once the upgrade has completed, please enter the values for these three licenses using either the SVC Console (GUI) licensing page or the SVC command line. The warning messages listed above will not impact a running system or prevent the upgrade from completing.
The license usage is calculated in the following way:
- Virtualization usage continues to be calculated based on the total size of the mdisk across all managed disk groups. Unmanaged mdisks are not included in this calculation.
- Remote Copy usage continues to be calculated based on the size of both the master and auxiliary vdisks.
- FlashCopy usage is now calculated on the size of the source vdisk alone, regardless of the number of targets. When measuring a FlashCopy cascade, only those vdisks that are used as source vdisks are included in this calculation. Prior to V4.3.0.0, both source and target disks were included in this calculation.
- Where Space-Efficient vdisks are used in a Remote Copy or FlashCopy usage calculation, the virtual size of the vdisk is used.
- Where mirrored vdisks are used in a Remote Copy or FlashCopy usage calculation, the size of the vdisk will be included in the calculation only once.
The following new informational message will be logged when more than 90% of the virtualized capacity has been used:

You can check your existing licensing usage using the "svcinfo lslicense" CLI command.
