IBM Support

Simultaneously modifying multiple records in the Windows client

Question & Answer

Question

How can you perform a batch update to modify multiple records in the IBM Rational ClearQuest for Windows client?

Answer

The following steps will enable you to modify multiple records:

  1. Create or run a query to see the list of records in the grid that are intended for modification.
  2. Selecting the first record, hold the SHIFT key, then pick the last record from the grid. All records should be now highlighted.
  3. Click on Actions and select Modify from the top menu. (Other actions could be chosen as well).
  4. By performing an action on multiple records, a Multiple Record Update dialog box will be displayed. The chosen action will be applied to all the selected records in the grid.
Note: You have a choice of either updating each record individually or applying the changes made to the first record to the rest of the selected records. In the latter option, ClearQuest will prompt for two boxes giving the user an opportunity to see every record before updating to the database, i.e. with the purpose of making additional changes or corrections or canceling updates altogether.
