APAR status

Error description

  • Disk I/O failed to MPIO disk due to the path control
module failing path selection.  In some rare cases there is
no PERM disk error log in the AIX error log associated with
this I/O failure.

no PERM disk error log in the AIX error log associated with
this I/O failure.

    



Problem conclusion


    

  • It is expected the PCM will log an error log associated with
the path selection failure, or path failures.  The disk
device driver will be improved to always build an error
log on all path selection errors even for read/write
I/O.
