APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • open of the Fibre Channel adapter will hang after a
microcode
upgrade unless an rmdev/ mkdev is run first.

The process that attempts open will hang with a stack

Local fix

  • After a microcode upgrade rmdev -Rl the adapter instance
&
then run cfgmgr - this should clear the states that cause
the
hang.

Problem summary

  • The adapter open will hang, after microcode download.

Problem conclusion

  • The mbox fields are cleared before issue.
