IZ79126: SAVEVG -R TAKES VERY LONG FOR FS WITH LARGE NUMBER OF FILES APPLIES TO AIX 6100-05

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• With AIX 5.3 TL09 (6.1 TL02) we added a sanity check to
  the
  mksysb command to proof if the files are still accessible
  after creating the archive_list.  When running savevg -r
  we
  don?t want to backup the files itself, only the volume
  group information and administration data files, but the
  sanity check still runs.  This adds a lot of time to the
  savevg -r execution time on filesystems with a large
  number of files, when we only want the volume group
  control data.
  

Local fix

• Comment the find command of the sanity check section,
  which
   starts with:
  
  # Notify user that find command had problems where the
  archive list is incomplete.
  ...
  ...
  ${find} .$i ! -name "$tmp_file" ! -type s \( -fstype jfs
  -o -fstype jfs2 \) -xdev -print >/dev/null
