Error description

  • HLASM is incorrectly creating ADATA source records when a
    continuation occurs in the source record.

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    * USERS AFFECTED: Users of ADATA exits that modify the ADATA *
    *                 records.                                     *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: When an ADATA exit is being used to *
    * modify ADATA records, that have long *
    * continued source statements, then ADATA *
    * type X'0030' records may be corrupted. *
    * Related ADATA type X'0034' records may *
    *                      also be overlaid.                       *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the PTF provided. *
    ****************************************************************
    When ADATA records are being created, and an ADATA exit is being
    used to modify the created records, and a source statement has
    been continued over more than one line, then the subsequent
    ADATA type X'0030' source record may be corrupted. If there is
    a related ADATA type X'0034' DC/DS record then it may also be
    overlaid.

Problem conclusion

  • The assembler will now use its own storage area to save the data
    it requires, and not rely on the previous ADATA record that it
    had created.
