Error description
The TSM library client does not currently support the concurrent checkout of multiple volumes. For example, if a MOVE DRMEDIA process is initiated from the library client and requires the checkout of multiple volumes, an unique checkout process will be started for each volume on the library manager. This creates a problem with shared ACSLS libraries, as the checkout processes on the library manager require that the volume be removed from the CAP before the process will complete successfully. Thus, a checkout of 20 volumes from the library client will require that the customer remove each individual volume from the CAP one at a time. . Platforms Affected: All 5.3 TSM Servers . Initial Impact: LOW
Local fix
Here is a workaround for shared ACSLS libraries that can be used to avoid having to remove each volume from the CAP after each volume is checked out individually. . 1. Set the REQSYSAUTHOUTFILE server option to Yes 2. Issue the following MOVE DRMEDIA command to process database and storage pool volumes that are in MOUNTABLE state, and generate a list of tapes that should be moved off-site: MOVE DRMEDIA * WHERESTATE=MOUNTABLE TOSTATE=To_State REMOVE=NO CMD=&VOL CMDFILE=Vol_List APPEND=No WAIT=YES Where: - 'To_State' may be NOTMOUNTABLE, COURIER or VAULT - 'Vol_List' specifies the fully qualified name of the file that will contain the volumes that have to be moved off-site. You may place this file on a directory that may be accessed by the Library Client server and the Library Manager server, or you may ftp the file to the machine where the Library Manager Server resides. . On Library Manager: 3. Issue the following command: CHECKIN LIBVOL lib_name search=yes stat=private checklabel=no vollist=FILE:Vol_List 4. Wait until all the volumes are checked in. 5. Issue the following command to eject the tapes from the library CHECKOUT LIBVOL lib_name vollist=FILE:Vol_List 6. Wait until all the volumes are checked out. 7. Remove the volumes from the CAP
