Error description

  • Accessing a DB2 on iSeries database server via a federated
database on DB2 for Linux, Unix or Windows (LUW) from iSeries
Client causes transactions to be rolled back with the following
    error:

Error: Transaction rollback - SQLSTATE 40506, SQLCODE -1476.

You may encounter this issue in following setup:

    1. DB2 on iSeries is your database Server.
    2. DB2 on Linux, Unix or Windows is used as gateway to access
the database through a federated database setup.
    3. You are accessing the iSeries database from iSeries Client
through the federated database on the LUW environment in order t
o select data from the iSeries database and insert it into a sim
ilar table on the DB2 UDB for LUW database.
    For example:
    insert into luw_table select * from as400_table

This will return an error on the iSeries client, for example:
Error: Transaction rollback - SQLSTATE 40506, SQLCODE -1476.

This was caused by a request for EXTENDED_DIAGNOSTICS
information that was sent from the iSeries client to the
federated LUW database server. The federated LUW server
forwarded this request to an iSeries server, but was unable to
handle the reply containing the extended diagnostics
information, because extended diagnostics are not supported by
DB2 for LUW. The fix was to ignore the request for extended
    diagnostics.

Windows, and a DB2 UDB for iSeries server.

    PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
If this APAR is not applied, you will encounter SQL1476N errors
indicating that your transaction has been rolled back when you
are performing queries that request EXTENDED_DIAGNOSTICS
    information from iSeries servers.

PROBLEM SUMMARY: Refer to Error Description.
