Error description

  • When the DB2 CLI API SQLTables() is issued with a Catalog Name,
    in DB2 UDB Version 7.2, the CLI driver reports a CLI0150E -
"Driver Not Capable" error. In DB2 UDB Version 8, the CLI drive
r does not return such an error, and in most cases this causes t
he API to return an empty result set.
    .
Some third party applications will call SQLTables with a Catalog
Name to see if the driver supports Catalog Names. If it fails,
it will call SQLTables again, with a NULL Catalog Name.
    .
A new db2cli.ini keyword called PATCH2=69 will be added to cause
     a CLI0150E error to occur when a non-NULL Catalog Name is used;
or if the length of the Catalog Name is 0 bytes. This will
make the call to SQLTables() consistent with the DB2 UDB
Version 7.2 driver, and allow applications built around that
behavior to work with DB2 UDB Version 8.
    .

Local fix

  • If possible change the application so that SQLTables() is called
with a NULL for the Catalog Name.
