    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: CCCA support for new reserved words in *
    *                      Enterprise COBOL V6.1.                  *

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    Enterprise COBOL V6.1 adds five new reserved words, as part of
    the continuing process of implementing new standards. In order
    to support these, CCCA target language level 5 "Enterprise COBOL
    V5" will now be described as "Enterprise COBOL V5 and above", or
    "V5+" in contexts where there is insufficient space for the full
    description, and the five new reserved words will be added to
    those recognized during conversion to this language level:
      ALLOCATE
      DEFAULT
      FREE
      JSON
      JSON-CODE
    If any of these words are used as data-names in source code at
    a previous language level, then the conversion process will add
    a suffix as usual to avoid a conflict.

Problem conclusion

Temporary fix

Comments

  • The CCCA reserved word table has been updated to include the new
    keywords, and LCP846 has been updated to add a suffix if these
    words occur as data-names at an older language level. Panels and
    code have been updated to refer to the latest language level as
    "Enterprise COBOL V5 and above".
