PK35968: UPDATEINSTALLER USED WITH IHS FIXPACKS FOR 6.0 DOES NOT CHECK THE CURRENT IHS LEVEL BEFORE ALLOWING THE INSTALL TO TAKE PLACE

APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Client installed Fixpack 15, 6.0.2.15, on top of IBM HTTP Server
(IHS) 6.0.0.1.  IHS fails to start, and the plug-in will not
load. The updateinstaller did not prereq check the level of IHS
before allowing the installation of fixpack 15. Fixpack 15
installed successfully on top of IHS 6.0.0.1, with no errors
reported in the installation log.

Local fix

  • To resolve this issue, uninstall IHS's fixpack 15. Then install
RefreshPack 2, then reapply Fixpack 15 to IHS 6.0.2.

*                      checked for was 6.0.0.1, but it should  *
*                      have been 6.0.2.0.                      *

Problem conclusion

  • The minimum version required is changed to 6.0.2.0 to match the
documented prerequisite.
This fix is targeted for the following service pack:
6.0.2.21
The IBM HTTP Server V6.1 release is not affected.
