APAR status
Closed as program error.
Error description
The request has the following header: Accept-Encoding: gzip, deflate But the response data was not compressed. The request was internally redirected in IBM HTTP Server. For example, a "GET /" request was internally redirected to 'GET /cell/". Then the redirected request was handled by WebSphere Application Server. The response text/html data was not compressed.

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: IBM HTTP Server ssers with mod_deflate * * loaded that also use features such as * * RewriteRule or ErrorDocument along with * * URLs desired to be compressed. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: mod_deflate takes no action on * * responses that are the result of * * Apache internal redirects. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: Apply this fix if your configuration * * performs internal redirects on requests * * that will result in large, compressable * * responses. * **************************************************************** mod_deflate confused two internal Apache constructs, sub-requests and internal redirects, by way of using a library function call. This incorrectly short-circuited processing of internal redirects. Internal redirects occur as a result of RewriteRule in per-directory context, RewriteRule with the "PT" flag, and the local-path form of ErrorDocument handling.
Problem conclusion
mod_deflate was updated to check only that the request is not a subrequest, allowing internal redirects to be compressed.
Temporary fix
