Problem
This technote explains why the IBM® Rational® ClearCase® clearmake utility might error with []unable to stop MVFS audit - No such device or address[] along with a solution on how to resolve the problem.
Cause
While executing "clearmake", the following error appears:
clearmake: Error: Unable to stop MVFS audit - No such device or address
clearmake: Error: Unable to execute build script for "vb_AEPTUI" *** Error code 1
clearmake: Error: Build script failed for "proj_AeptUI" "all" not remade because of sub-target rebuild errors. *** Error code 1
clearmake: Error: Build script failed for "proj_components" `interface' is up to date.
The user on whose machine the error is occurring may not a part of the group to which the VOB is owned and or the CLEARCASE_PRIMARY_GROUP variable is not set correctly.
Resolving The Problem
Ensure that all users are a member of the group to which the VOB is owned.
If this is confirmed, be sure to check that the CLEARCASE_PRIMARY_GROUP variable is set correctly (if needed). See technote 1135509 for more information about the CLEARCASE_PRIMARY_GROUP variable.
