Problem
This technote explains a cause and solution for a Invalid Login error that can occur with IBM® Rational® ClearQuest® and Microsoft® SQL Server databases. This error could occur when attempting to login to the ClearQuest Client or the ClearQuest Designer.
Cause
This error can occur if the database user name or password has been changed for the back-end database has changed.

or
Warning - Invalid Login

SQLExecDirect: RETCODE=-1, State=S0002, Native Error=208
SQL statement="select db_locked from master_global"

Resolving The Problem
To resolve this issue, determine if the user database name and/or password has been changed.
- Using the SQL Server Enterprise Manager, browse to Security and open the SQL Server Login Properties for the user database user name.
- If the user name is different than what is in the ClearQuest Designer, View Database Properties, then you must change the user name.
- If just the user password had changed, you might wish to change the password again so that you can be sure what it is. Reset the database password in the ClearQuest Designer by updated User Database Properties from the top database menu. This should allow access to the user database from the ClearQuest Designer.
Follow the Export Profile/Import Profile procedures on page 60 of the ClearQuest 2003 Administrator's guide (CQ_ADMIN.pdf) to update any ClearQuest client profiles.
