Compile error for wpsURL variable in Rational Application Developer v7.0

Problem

IBM Rational Application Developer for WebSphere Software version 7.0 incorrectly shows that the wpsURL variable is invalid when used in a block. This is displayed as a compile error and the JSP cannot be published. If the JSP is copied to Portal server 6 it runs successfully.

Symptom

Error: wpsURL cannot be resolved

Cause

This issue has been identified as a product defect and has been logged under APAR PK41213.

Resolving The Problem

Disable JSP Validation. If disabling JSP Validation is not feasible, add wp.engine.impl.jar found in the shared/app folder of Portal 5.1 server(stub), to the build path of the project.

To disable JSP Validation, Window > Preferences > Validation...
