Download Description

The following APARs were fixed in this Update:

IY66660 - ICE in xlfcode no handler for exception at noopt
IY68445 - EXCEPTION terminates program: no handler for exception
IY69452 - bus error at runtime with O4
IY69498 - Internal Compiler Error with -O5 during IPA link step
IY71710 - May 2005 XL Fortran Advanced Edition V8.1 for Mac OS X Update
IY71711 - OPEN stmt incorrectly interprets file parameter
IY71712 - Segmentation fault in 811
IY71713 - Different results between 32-bit and 64-bit mode

The compiler Update consists of the following disk image:

xlf.cmp.81.macosx.may2005.update.dmg

For more information please see the README file for this Update. The README is included in the Download Package section below.

Prerequisites

The XL Fortran Advanced Edition V8.1 for Mac OS X compiler is required to be installed prior to installing this Update.

Installation Instructions

Download and double-click the disk image (.dmg) that makes up the Update. The disk image will be mounted and the Finder will open its contents.

Install using the GUI:

1. In the "packages" directory of the disk image, double click the xlf.cmp.mpkg meta-package.

2. Follow the install instructions.

Install using the command line:

1. With administrative privileges, first mount the .dmg from the command line using the hdiutil command. For example:

# hdiutil mount xlf.cmp.81.macosx.may2005.update.dmg

2. Next, use the command-line version of the Installer, /usr/sbin/installer, to apply the Update. For example:

# /usr/sbin/installer -pkg /Volumes/ibmxlfptf/packages/xlf.cmp.mpkg -target / -dumplog

Note that you may need to use the sudo command. If the above command generates an error message regarding authentication then you should type the command as follows:

# sudo /usr/sbin/installer -pkg /Volumes/ibmxlfptf/packages/xlf.cmp.mpkg -target / -dumplog

Note for 10.2 users: If the base product was relocated (ie. installed in a location other than /opt/ibmcmp/xlf/8.1/), the Update packages must be installed to the same location. The Installer tool will not automatically upgrade to the location where the base package was installed.
